ALL INDIA COAL WORKERS’ FEDERATION CONGRATULATES THE COAL WORKERS FOR THE BATTLE OF BARRICADES AGAINST COAL DE-NATIONALISATION AND ANNOUNCES NATIONWIDE STRIKE ON 13TH. JANUARY, 2015

PRESS RELEASE:

ALL INDIA COAL WORKERS’ FEDERATION CONGRATULATES THE COAL WORKERS FOR THE BATTLE OF BARRICADES AGAINST COAL DE-NATIONALISATION AND ANNOUNCES NATIONWIDE STRIKE ON 13TH. JANUARY, 2015

Shri Jibon Roy, General Secretary of All India Coal Workers Federation has issued the following statement on the above subjects for favour of publication and communication:

“ All Inida Coal Workers Federation  applauds  the Indian  Coal Workers  for their valiant   patriotic response against  Central  Government’s   role to  obtain Parliamentary consent for  Denationalization Coal Industry. Government resorted to this act  while over riding all Parliamentary  procedure and  with an  unprecedented  hurry. The  unilateralism initiated by the Honble Coal Minister,  in his act  of   flattening  the   steps  one to another,  coercive    humiliation to the coal workers and  their leaders which has  culminated  to  enactment of the  Denationalisation Law, is being concurrently  responded   yesterday  by the workers   in the way of  putting barricades. The act of protest has been carried  simultaneously cutting across, length and breadth of the Coal producing areas in the country.  This epic confrontation,  probably  brings the end  to an  era  in the history of  Industrial relation system   which began five decades ago with the formation of   bipartite machinery in   Steel Industry for dealing such  relations  in the way  of   country wide  negotiation.  It may be simultaneously, the beginning of the  end of  the desperation of  Multinational-Corporate hegemony exploiting  religious fundamentalism to settle score in the arena of  industrial relations.

Federation views  that if the de-nationalisation of  Coal  which has been  followed the withdrawal of  legislative umbrella  from 72% of the industrial workers in this country, tantamount to biggest and concurrent  onslaught in the current century,  against the workers,  the appearance of the barricades in the widest part of the country for the first time after independence, would probably influence the beginning for   setting  the course of the history in the present crisis  . Had the Honble Minister who is happened to be the employer of the second largest work force in the country, saw it easy to humiliate those respectable  leaders  who came out of the way for  withdrawing 24th November Strike and refused to meet them even after his commitment ,  the to-days battle of barricade be taken as the appropriate response . It has to be noted that had  there  not been  more worst for the country then the denationalization, there  would not have been appropriate rejoinder, had not the second largest labour detachment exercised the symbol of block against restoration of slavery and  putting  the poor out of civilized life.

Protest has been overwhelmed, began on tenth itself when the news poured into the coal cities about the incidence of introduction, spread like fire from one to the other states. Black flags were seen hoisted in union offices and public places in the coal mining societies.  Protest took the shape of revolt  by  noon  today.  The protest demonstration within the pit heads began shifting to cities and barricades surfaced.  Consequently, workers action behind the barricades   from  sub-area offices, towards the   main road  and then barricades   appeared on the  National high way with huge mobilization. .  Thousands of workers gathered accompanied   with other social forces, including women, students and youth. The national highways affected widespread.  Besides, the Ranjiganj coal filed in West Bengal, a vast area of Jharkhand  covering  Jharia, Dhanbad,  Ramgarh, Bermo, Barkashial,  Kathara    were effected.  Demonstration and road blockage have taken place  in all  areas  of WCCL and  SECCL, covering  Bilaspur, Korba, Chirimiri,  Nagpur, Samner, Umred and  Chandrapur areas.  Demonstration and  Road blockages in Singarani coal field has been massive.  Barricades and demonstrations appeared in vast areas of Mahanadi Coal fields which include  Talcher,  Basundhara and  the Head quarter.  In NCL  (UP & MP)  workers came out into the streets in hundreds in every mining areas which includes. In North East Coalfield Margarrata has been one of the boiling point of  Assam.

Federation wish to humbly  submit that it wish to be conscious of its responsibility for burdening the leadership of the great upsurge , after the leaders  of three other trade unions have failed to absorb the warmth.

In response to this bounden task,  it thought to calls upon the Coal Workers to raise their resistance to the new organised height out of the spontaneity .  It calls the   Nation wide strike on 13th of January, 2015 and it sponsors the strike with the belief that the battle of barricade representing 11th. December would provide courage to those leaders for rejoining the workers with their revered leadership.

Federation Calls upon the coal workers, never to forget   that they are  in street neither for  themselves alone, nor they can survive the crisis alone. They must address the struggle with an urge for resurrection which never returns alone for a particular detachment.  They can survive   only when they are effectively supported by the other section of  working population and  democratic opinion. Federation calls them further to go each and every family members and the democratic opinion in the coal mining society and ensure their presence in the Human chain   of 16th. December, as succeeding to   similar program over the pit heads on 12th December.

Federation urge upon the workers in this country, irrespective of affiliation and democratic opinion to accept the strike of 13th as the expression of common agony which got almost suppressed under ‘glimmer’ of market.

Federation requests the Government   for maintaining restraint while dealing the strike and warns in case of  state or any such repression the strike may get extended  in its automatic course.”
